Oil & Gas – Production
Scope of Work
The pipework was required by our client as part of offshore skid-based systems to produce potable water through a desalination water treatment process. The material of construction was titanium Grade II.
APMS’s scope of work included material procurement, fabrication, NDT, hydrotesting, surface treatment and the preparation of full traceability quality documentation. Pipe sizes ranged from 15NB to 150NB and Sch 10s to Sch 80s wall thickness.
Project Resourcing
The project team included:
- Project Management
- Quality Management
- Project Engineering
- Project Supervision
- Boilermaking and Coded Welding Personnel
- Non-destructive testing (NDT), hydrotesting and surface treatment subcontracts.
Fabrication
The pipework was fabricated in accordance with ASME B31.3.
Project Achievements
- Zero recordable incidents or accidents throughout the duration of the project.
- APMS again demonstrated the ability to successfully deliver products fabricated from exotic materials.
- Project delivered on time and on budget
- Less than 1% failure rate on butt welding with full monitoring of welding procedure variables
- Complete conformance to ASME B31.3
- Management of materials including receipt, stock taking, material take of confirmation against ordered and reporting to client
- Worked with our client to provide prioritised individual spools to assist with skid assembly and schedule compliance
- Created project specific titanium welding and monitoring procedures accepted by Osmoflo, Samsung (Korea) and DSME (Korea)
Key Activities
The success of the project was dependant on the successful execution of the following activities:
Fabrication:
- Extensive interaction with our client to ensure design was in line with practical fabrication considerations.
- Material procurement.
- Workshop fabrication in accordance with ASME B31.3.
- Coded Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding to ASME IX.
- Successful NDT (100% RT) and hydrotesting.
- Glass bead blasting of the external surface of all pipe spools.
- Spool traceability and staggered delivery to suit site installation sequence.
- 100% material and weld traceability.
- Coordination of multiple subcontractors including non-destructive testing (NDT), hydro testing and surface treatment.
- Liaise with the client to ensure Manufacturers Data Report (MDR) contained the information required for future reference including as built information and drawing updates.
